I was reading this morning in the French Newspaper Lefigaro.fr an article on the Mall of the Emirates, in Dubai, one of the most prestigious and top of the line Mall in the world.
Indeed, we have to remember that Mohammed Ben al-Maktoum, king of the United Arab Emirates, is known for his humongous fortune that allowed him to build for instance Burj Dubai, the highest skycraper in the world or some artificial islands in plam tree form (that you can see here). The United Arab Emirates is a rich country thanks to its oil resources, and its leader like to build top of the class constructions for its people.
The Shopping resort
That would be the best term to define this new original kind of mall. The mall counts:
- 450 stores
- 70 restaurants
- spas and swimming pools
- A classy hotel
- 2 mosque
- 14 movie theater screens (100 dirhams the show, about 19 euros, which turns it into the most expensive movie theater in the world!)
The tycoons meeting point
The Mall of the Emirates is well located, as it can attract tycoons from Russia, Saudi Arabia, India, Egypt, and even China! Thus the mall is ideally located between Orient and Occident, and this makes it the best place to shop for tycoons and billionaires of the region. The Mall welcome every year about 29 million visitors.
One of the other secret weapon to get this prestigious clientele: shopping is tax free for the foreign hosts, whereas Dubai is already the 5th consuming country of luxury products.
I invite my french readers to read this interesting article. Nevertheless, you can still visite the official website of the Mall, where you will find detailed information.
